This holiday season, please help our immigrant brothers and sisters with your support of the Brazilian Worker Center.
Our immigration system here in the USA does not adequately support those who arrive here in the Boston area. Temporary housing is limited. Paperwork overwhelming. Support for finding employment and enrolling in assistance programs is insufficient. And yet we know that these families are driven by hardship, violence, and desperation to come all this way and make a better life. Willing to work hard at many jobs that Americans do not want – nursing home aides, landscaping, temporary agricultural jobs – these immigrants need help to find their way in our system.
The Brazilian Worker Center (BWC) in Allston is committed to helping those families who are falling between the cracks in the system. Right now they are helping a surge of Haitian families currently in need.
Our Giving Tree is asking for donations to cover items needed to help families served by BWC. The tags on our tree in the parish narthex list a variety of items at different cost levels. Please pick up a tag, enclose your check or cash, and put it in the plate or in the church office. We will take care of purchasing items to be delivered to BWC.
Our “kids only tags” this year are for 2 items requested by BWC: toothbrushes and snacks for kids. So please help kids select a tag and bring their item to put under the tree.
Sunday, Dec 22 will be the last day for the Giving Tree collection.
You may donate from the main PayPal button on our Donate page, at whatever giving level you choose.
If you prefer to participate in the Advent Giving Tree this year by writing a check, you may send it to St. Paul’s Church, 100 Pine Hill Road, Bedford MA 01730. Please indicate “Giving Tree” and which ministry you’d like to support on the memo line.
